Matthew Walters

Background
Matthew joined Jaws in 2015, and is responsible for directing all private investments with a focus on consumer, consumer technology, and proptech companies.
Matthew also serves on the investment committee member of Starwood Growth, Starwood Capital Group’s dedicated fund.
Additionally, Matthew is actively involved with Jaws’ SPAC franchise, currently serving as COO of Jaws Mustang (NYSE: JWSM). Matthew previously served as CEO Jaws Spitfire prior to its merger with Velo3D (NYSE: VLD), an advanced 3D metal printing company serving mission critical use cases, where he is a member of the Board of Directors.

Matthew received his M.S. in Finance from Fairfield University and graduated with a B.A. from the University of Virginia.
Sam Rohr

Background
Sam joined Jaws in 2020, and is responsible for sourcing, executing and supporting investments with a focus on companies that support the national interest including aerospace & defense, education, supply chain, industrials, and manufacturing as well as fintech.
Before Jaws, Sam was an Associate at the Silverfern Group, a global middle-market private equity firm. He began his career as an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at Barclays.

Sam received his B.A. in International Relations from The University of Pennsylvania.
Sam Berger
New York City
Background
Sam joined Jaws in 2021, and is responsible for sourcing, executing and supporting investments with a focus on enterprise software and cybersecurity companies. Sam returned to Jaws in August 2024 after completing a year-long rotation as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and CEO of Starwood Capital.
Before Jaws, Sam was an Associate with the Technology Opportunities Fund at Charlesbank Capital Partners, a specialized private equity platform geared toward lower middle-market technology investing. He began his career as an Associate in the Technology Group at William Blair and as an Analyst in the Consumer Group at Piper Sandler.

Sam received a B.A. in History from Duke University.
Chris Ashman

Background
Chris joined Jaws in 2024, and is responsible for sourcing, executing, and supporting the manager investment portfolio, both public and private.
Before Jaws, Chris was an Investment Director at FJ Management, a $4bn single family office, focused on all asset classes. He began his career as an Analyst in the Leveraged Finance Group at KeyBanc Capital Markets.

Chris received his BBA in Finance from the University of Cincinnati.
